Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Society Inc.

HomeWelcome to SAGIP SIERRA MADRE Environmental Society and Multi-Sectoral Coordinating CouncilDec 13, 2007

SSMESI is an environmental Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to protect and conserve our environment especially the Sierra Madre Corridors as the Last Great Forest supply 97% water to Metro Manila, Bulacan & Pampanga with its 4 critical watersheds considered by the UNESCO ay highly critical during its conference 2004.

SSMESI is national non-profit group and an indigenous people based organization. We purely depend on voluntary services & assistance of our members, donations, grants, livelihoods and generosity of other people/organizations and government agencies as we look to God as our primary source through Divine Providence.

Our group (SSMESI) is actually conceptualized way back 1994 in Sierra Madre Quezon with the witnessing of constant destruction of its forest. It started as personal mission that later became a group objectives. From being IPRA Convenor Group towards the creation of PSTFAD/BSTFAD and then becoming a formal movement in 2004 being part of the Sagip Sierra Madre Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Council or SSMMSCC.

We the SSMESI was re-formally registered with new name in security & Exchange Commission last September 25, 2008 with Company Reg. No. CN200815224 with Company Tin 007-133-763.

Our aim is, “OUR FOREST, OUR LIFE! OURS TO PROTECT!!!

And we cannot do this alone without your support no matter how little it is in the eyes of the world. Despite the difficulties of our economy and seeming impossible to SAVE SIERRA MADRE with continues destruction and seeming lack of political will from our political leaders we never loose hope and we keep on believing that there is HOPE.

The tasked is to collaborate each other to protect the Sierra Madre of Bulacan that covers the three watersheds namely: Angat, Ipo & Gen. Tinio-DRT. They members agreed to organize themselves into a Multi-Sectoral Environment and Natural Resources Committee. They also agree to support the operationalization of the committee and making their resources (i.e. manpower, financial, logistics, communications, etc available during the duration of the MOA.

The basis of SAGIP SIERRA MADRE ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY, INC or SSMESI is an independent and autonomous group or body made of individual membership from SSMMSCC or Sagip Sierra Madre Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Council ( a semi-government council). The idea is to strengthen the hold of NGO's sectors and individual personalities its independency and addressed financial shortness and its intention to save the environment. This means that the SSMMSCC funding body is the SAGIP SIERRA MADRE ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIETY, INC.
